Alcan Composites USA - Gatorfoam/Fome-Cor Site Alcan Composites USA manufactures numerous product lines. This site was made for the Gatorfoam/Fome-Cor line of graphic display foam boards. The home page features a random image in the left column as well as a call to action to use the product selector. If the visitor knows exactly which product they are interested in, they can choose it from the pull down menu and be directed to that page immediately. The latest five news stories are also displayed on the home page (yet another dynamic feature). This site is 100% dynamic with every piece of text updatable by Alcan and outside vendors who are allowed access to particular areas. HOME PAGE The site features an incredibly complex dynamic animated Flash product selector. The product selector features smooth animation and an introductory tutorial on how to use it to choose products. You can see here where I've specified one Application, one Fabrication method and several other Specifications. The product list dynamically changes to show me which products best suit my needs. The "?" may be clicked on for a description of that particular product. PRODUCT SELECTOR Once the product selector is set following the visitor's specifications, a "Printable Friendly" version of their choices may be opened in a new window. This screen shows all the user's choices, which products fit those choices and more actions like finding a distributor or ordering samples. PRINTABLE PRODUCT SELECTOR SUMMARY The administrative back-end of this site is extremely thorough and filled with a lot of proprietary data. Because of that, I can only show you one small section of the product specification section. Here, the administrator is choosing, for a particular product, for each of the "colors", which thicknesses and sheet sizes are available. ADMINISTRATION - PRODUCT SPECIFICATION As Alcan Composites adds, removes or updates products, they can easily log in and update the site immediately changing the flash product selector as well as all the detail pages. Each "Success Story" on the site can be cross referenced with product lines or even individual fabrication methods. Finally, since this site is 100% dynamic, I built the search engine completely from scratch to search all the various tables and fields and weigh the results accordingly. Back to Samples
